I am not the same Jessica Michaels you knew. As soon as I decided my life work was going to pivot from the dance industry – teaching/choreographing/Wingman – to sharing my story as a child s*xual abuse and Epstein survivor, I knew every single thing would have to change – especially my inability to even speak about this trauma without dissolving into a shame shitstorm of vulnerability that left me feeling anxious, fragile, humiliated and exhausted. I knew I was going to need help.
So I hired a renowned award-winning public speaking coach to work with me privately. He was great – but it didn’t work. I tried learning speech-writing and working on my own. Didn’t work. I tried consulting with wonderful, trusted and supportive friends on this new journey. Didn’t work. After 8 months, I felt like a failure before I’d even begun!
I started to recognize I needed to learn a different “way of being” with and around this topic of sexual assault if I was going to be effective and have longevity. I was going to have to learn things I had no understanding of, in a way I never knew existed.
